As provided for by the regulation currently in force, that includes CTS’s provisions – [Comitato Tecnico Scientifico], the capacity of public means of transport throughout the whole Italian territory is established at 50%: APAM strictly follows those indications, therefore all APAM’s buses travel at half capacity.
Bus drivers constantlysupervise as to assure that established capacity is not exceeded, data are constantly analyzed by company Apam and no exceeded limits have been registered to date.
It is necessary to point out that buses have different capacities and in many cases 50% capacity does not exclude the presence of standing places available: urban buses are allowed to fill all seats and some standing places; the same is valid for extra-urban 18m articulated buses that are used for high demand routes.
This shall not lead passengers to be afraid for their safety: the regulation is very clear and assures the safety onboard of public means of transport if the capacity is halved, passengers shall responsibly behave by correctly wearingtheir masks during their whole transfer and the means of transport are regularly ventilated and sanitized.
APAM carries out each and every action that falls within its competence: it assures the strict respect of capacities and the constant recirculation of air with filters cleaning, it dailysanitizes buses and puts hand sanitizing gel at disposal onboard.
Since health emergency has started, APAM has ever been carrying out huge efforts to revise its own procedures as to assure the full safety of its users and gives the utmost importance to the fact that that everyone should be aware of its daily commitment aimed at restarting public transport: an actual and effective commitment for the sake of the community and young people first. As a matter of fact, young people can start again to attend their schools in presence, but in order to reach this important goal, it is crucial for the information to be clear to all families that need to feel safe in choosing public transport for their children.
